Biographical Information
Elizabeth Barker married Edward Winslow in Leiden on 16 May 1618, and
came with him on the Mayflower to Plymouth in 1620. In
their marriage banns, Elizabeth is called a spinster from "Chatsum in
England", which some have taken to mean Chattisham, Suffolk; but
Chatham, Kent should not be overlooked either. The marriage banns
were witnessed by Janie Hazel, a cousin or neice, and Mary Allerton,
also a witness for the bride. Elizabeth died late the first winter at
Plymouth, on 24 March 1621.
